When dreams come true: Cinderella Book Tag!

cinderella book tagBeen a while since I last did a tag so huge thanks to Meg @ Adrift on Vulcan for tagging me ^^ It’s no secret that I love fairy tales. Believe it or not, I used to re-read my Disney princesses storybooks countless times when I was younger. They are part of my childhood. Anyway, now it’s time for my answers!

Evil Stepsistersfire with fire

A book with character you hate.

I was tempted to go with The Selection series but it would probably be a very predictable answer so I ended up choosing Fire with Fire. Burn for Burn was okay, and I thought the main characters were mildly tolerable. But in Fire with Fire, Lilia, Kat and Mary got on my nerves almost every time that by the end of the book, I was fuming with anger. I don’t agree with their actions — I found them rather spiteful to be honest.

Prince Charmingpivot-point

A book with a gentleman.

Without a doubt, I’m gonna choose Trevor from Pivot Point! My, my, I love Kasie so much for writing a love interest as amazing as Trevor. He is the sweetest guy I’ve ever known and ohmygod words can’t describe how fluffy the romance is in this book asafdsfasgfhgdjshklk TREVOR IS SO SWOON-WORTHY. ‘Nuff said. If you have yet to read this book, I URGE YOU TO DO IT NOW!!!

Cinderellavessel

A character that is graceful, kind, and defiant.

Gonna go with my latest read Vessel because why not? Liyana fits the description perfectly. I think she is an example of how a strong protagonist should be. I love her. She cares a lot about her family and tribe and she is willing to do anything to save them. She even courageously demand to speak with the enemy for the sake of that!

Fairy Godmother12127750

A character that always has someone looking out for them.

At first, I really had no idea. Then I guess I will go with Heroes of Olympus because the Argo II crews definitely have each other’s back! We’ve seen countless times one of them gets into trouble and the rest always try to help them out. Such a wonderful friendship <3 My favorite installment is probably The Mark of Athena though!

Helpful Creaturekuroko no basket 24haikyuu 12

Something that makes you happy when you’re sad.

Forgive me for I have sinned. I tried to stick to books as much as possible but in the end, it seems like I just can’t NOT include my sports anime babies. Or boyfriends. Whatever >< On my bad days, I  usually re-read some chapters or browse these series tumblr tags. I picked Haikyuu!! volume 12 on purpose solely because the cover features the regulars of the Karasuno team haha. Also, picture on the right is the cover of Kuroko no Basket volume 24, which shows Mirababies during happy Teikou days. *exerts dreamy sigh*

Pumpkindivergent-cover

A character with a transformation.

Again, I could have easily answered this with a character from sports anime (KAGEYAMA TOBIO OR MIYUKI KAZUYA HELLOOOO) but it feels like I still have some self-restraint. Tris from the Divergent trilogy is the definition of transformation. Her character changes drastically, if I were to compare the first book with the last book. Especially in Allegiant — you know what happen — and I’m proud of what she did. Her act was meaningful and I’m actually in the minority of people who love the book.

Ashes13517455

A book you didn’t care for.

Well, it would definitely be Reboot. I usually manage to find at least a positive thing in every book I finish but that’s definitely not the case with Reboot. It’s actually a miracle how I was able to finish this book. Thanks to the flat writing, insta-love, inconsistent main character and one-dimensional love interest, I am so done with this series. My review is basically a long-ass rant lol.

Impossible17&gone

A book with an ending you didn’t see coming.

17 & GoneNova Ren Suma masterfully crafted everything that the book was so raw and believable to me. I thought this was about ghosts and murder mystery but there’s apparently SO MUCH MORE than that.

Just Breathefalling into place

Something that inspires you to be courageous.

I thought Falling into Place was an average read but I get the underlying message. It emphasizes how much people might be suffering silently whether it’s physically or mentally without telling anybody. It’s telling me to be a more caring person, and how important the sentence “are you okay” really is. Because you will never know what’s really going on in other people’s lives and sometimes it only takes a few words to make them feel loved and wanted.

Happily Ever Afterruin-and-rising

A book with a perfect ending.

RUIN AND RISING HELL YEAHHHH!!!!!! Omg this book is perfection and the ending is perfection I cannot ask for anything better. Even though my main ship didn’t sail in the end, I’m still satisfied with the ending because the way the canon ship is written in the final book makes me see how plausible it actually is. I hope I’m making sense right now lol. Leigh Bardugo solidly concluded her Grisha trilogy and I can’t wait for what she has in store for her next book, Six of Crows.

And that’s it! There you go, peeps. I love doing tags because it’s such an easy way to recommend good books. Though I admit that I could have answered the majority of these categories with a Haikyuu!! character lol.

Now I tag:

What do you think of my answers? Have you read any of these books?

  1. I agree that these kids are bunch of helpful creatures! LOL (and I can see how tempted you are to answer manga-related characters *winks*)
I read Reboot and actually liked it and even read the sequel which I think was far superior, story wise. Funny, how I haven’t read almost all the books you featured sans HQ, KnB and of course Reboot. *hides in shame*

    1. Lol, that’s okay! I think I’ve felt that way most of the time when I’m reading a list made by other bloggers >< But the biggest question is you haven't read Heroes of Olympus? Omg YOU'RE MISSING IT MITCHII

  2. I’ve forgotten most of what happens in Pivot Point, but now I feel like re-reading it again now that I know the love interest is a gentleman. 😉 Who needs bad boys when we can have sweet, adorable ones like Trevor, right? Sometimes fluffy romances are the best!

Ahh, I’ve been meaning to read Vessel for a while now, because the plot just sounds so original and cool. I’m glad that the main character is someone I can root for. And the friendships in the HoO series are amazing! Even though some of the characters still aren’t as fleshed-out as I hoped they’d be (mostly Jason lol, I still don’t know what to think of him even though I’ve read all the books except for the last one), I have to agree that they make an awesome team.

KNB AND HAIKYUUUUUU!!!! <33 They are capable of making anyone feel happy tbh. I mean, how can you not smile when you see their adorable faces and their hilarious moments and their teamwork?! I haven't read the latest Haikyuu!! chapter yet though… And KnB: Extra Game needs to be updated more often! Haha, Kageyama would be the perfect character for the transformation category, but I agree about Tris, too. I'm proud of her as well and she definitely has come a long way from being the selfish Dauntless girl in the first book.

Ugh, I was so torn about the Happily Ever After category. SO MANY BOOKS TO CHOOSE FROM. Even though I decided to go with Percy Jackson (because that ending brought such a big smile to my face), the ending for Ruin & Rising was perfect as well. I'm sad that Alina's adventures are over, but at least now we have Six of Crows!!! EEEEEP.

Thanks for doing the tag, lovely! <3

    1. YES! Especially if Kasie’s the one who’s writing the romance xD I have a huge love for this author, please excuse me lol.

Great! I really hope you’ll give Vessel a try. I’m surprised that it’s apparently quite underrated…

Tell me about Jason -_- I think he’s the character I like the least because there’s so many things we don’t know about him. He’s always been depicted as cool since the beginning. I think we’ll meet the crew once in a while in the new Norse series though 😀

Yay for sports anime! KNB and Haikyuu are the best, aren’t they? 😉 I usually re-read the summer training camp when I’m down. Gahh, I agree that Extra Game needs to be updated more often. I think it’s because Fujimaki have this new project about golf manga (?) BUT STILL. I CAN’T WAIT to know how our Mirababies will slay Jabberwocky.

Aw, it’s my pleasure Meg! The tag was so much fun. Thank you for tagging me in the first place haha xD

  3. I totally agree with Tris as the “pumpkin”. She changes so much *cries like a proud mom*. Allegiant was so sad but I thought it was a cool ending because Tris got her “wish” and I think that was her fate all along. I surprisingly have not read any of the books you mentioned except for Divergent. Shame on me! I’m starting Percy Jackson though (I just finished The Sea of Monsters. SO GOOD)!

    1. Right? It’s a genius ending after a lot of thinking. The emotional impact was definitely HUGE. I cried a lot ;A;

AHH SO GLAD YOU’RE LOVING PJO. It’s a wonderful childhood series of mine that started all of my love for books. I hope you’ll love the rest of the series including HoO 😉

  4. YES to Haikyuu characters! Hinata is such a ball of sunshine that I smile every time I see his face and Suga is such a sweet mom and Tsukki is the best kind of trash and I could go on forever too (>.<)
I loved Ruin & Rising and I tried to understand the endgame but I couldn't stop feeling like Alina had to weaken herself for it to happen. Still, it's what she wanted, not all of us want to destroy evil and rule the world for the rest of our lives lol

    1. It’s trueeeeee <33 I'm in love with Haikyuu. Period. Lol.

Ahhh I understand what you mean, Ju. It didn't make a little sense to me but I guess I was just feeling way too emotional to comprehend it haha.
