Been a while since I last did a tag so huge thanks to Meg @ Adrift on Vulcan for tagging me ^^ It’s no secret that I love fairy tales. Believe it or not, I used to re-read my Disney princesses storybooks countless times when I was younger. They are part of my childhood. Anyway, now it’s time for my answers!
A book with character you hate.
I was tempted to go with The Selection series but it would probably be a very predictable answer so I ended up choosing Fire with Fire. Burn for Burn was okay, and I thought the main characters were mildly tolerable. But in Fire with Fire, Lilia, Kat and Mary got on my nerves almost every time that by the end of the book, I was fuming with anger. I don’t agree with their actions — I found them rather spiteful to be honest.
A book with a gentleman.
Without a doubt, I’m gonna choose Trevor from Pivot Point! My, my, I love Kasie so much for writing a love interest as amazing as Trevor. He is the sweetest guy I’ve ever known and ohmygod words can’t describe how fluffy the romance is in this book asafdsfasgfhgdjshklk TREVOR IS SO SWOON-WORTHY. ‘Nuff said. If you have yet to read this book, I URGE YOU TO DO IT NOW!!!
A character that is graceful, kind, and defiant.
Gonna go with my latest read Vessel because why not? Liyana fits the description perfectly. I think she is an example of how a strong protagonist should be. I love her. She cares a lot about her family and tribe and she is willing to do anything to save them. She even courageously demand to speak with the enemy for the sake of that!
A character that always has someone looking out for them.
At first, I really had no idea. Then I guess I will go with Heroes of Olympus because the Argo II crews definitely have each other’s back! We’ve seen countless times one of them gets into trouble and the rest always try to help them out. Such a wonderful friendship <3 My favorite installment is probably The Mark of Athena though!
Something that makes you happy when you’re sad.
Forgive me for I have sinned. I tried to stick to books as much as possible but in the end, it seems like I just can’t NOT include my sports anime babies. Or boyfriends. Whatever >< On my bad days, I usually re-read some chapters or browse these series tumblr tags. I picked Haikyuu!! volume 12 on purpose solely because the cover features the regulars of the Karasuno team haha. Also, picture on the right is the cover of Kuroko no Basket volume 24, which shows Mirababies during happy Teikou days. *exerts dreamy sigh*
A character with a transformation.
Again, I could have easily answered this with a character from sports anime (KAGEYAMA TOBIO OR MIYUKI KAZUYA HELLOOOO) but it feels like I still have some self-restraint. Tris from the Divergent trilogy is the definition of transformation. Her character changes drastically, if I were to compare the first book with the last book. Especially in Allegiant — you know what happen — and I’m proud of what she did. Her act was meaningful and I’m actually in the minority of people who love the book.
A book you didn’t care for.
Well, it would definitely be Reboot. I usually manage to find at least a positive thing in every book I finish but that’s definitely not the case with Reboot. It’s actually a miracle how I was able to finish this book. Thanks to the flat writing, insta-love, inconsistent main character and one-dimensional love interest, I am so done with this series. My review is basically a long-ass rant lol.
A book with an ending you didn’t see coming.
17 & Gone. Nova Ren Suma masterfully crafted everything that the book was so raw and believable to me. I thought this was about ghosts and murder mystery but there’s apparently SO MUCH MORE than that.
Something that inspires you to be courageous.
I thought Falling into Place was an average read but I get the underlying message. It emphasizes how much people might be suffering silently whether it’s physically or mentally without telling anybody. It’s telling me to be a more caring person, and how important the sentence “are you okay” really is. Because you will never know what’s really going on in other people’s lives and sometimes it only takes a few words to make them feel loved and wanted.
Happily Ever After
A book with a perfect ending.
RUIN AND RISING HELL YEAHHHH!!!!!! Omg this book is perfection and the ending is perfection I cannot ask for anything better. Even though my main ship didn’t sail in the end, I’m still satisfied with the ending because the way the canon ship is written in the final book makes me see how plausible it actually is. I hope I’m making sense right now lol. Leigh Bardugo solidly concluded her Grisha trilogy and I can’t wait for what she has in store for her next book, Six of Crows.
And that’s it! There you go, peeps. I love doing tags because it’s such an easy way to recommend good books. Though I admit that I could have answered the majority of these categories with a Haikyuu!! character lol.
Now I tag:
