Status Update: End of test week and a big haul!

The title of this post is pretty explanatory. My tests were over so I now have much more spare time! Even if we’re in class, most of the periods are free time and we can do basically whatever we want as long as we don’t break any of the school rules haha. Let me savor this moment as much as I can before teachers start choking us with preparation for finals…
(AKA a recap)
Earlier this week, the books I ordered last month finally arrived and now take a look at my new babies!!
Sorry for that crappy pic! I got that Periplus Tote Bag for free! Maybe because I purchased a lot of books ><
Ahh… I’m SO pumped to read them! Especially The Distance Between Us and A Midsummer’s Nightmare! Both are contemporaries and not too thick compared to the others, so I guess I will start with them since I haven’t read for a few weeks. I might need to warm up with a quick read so I won’t ditch the book halfway like what I did to The School for Good and Evil…
I was lucky to receive the ARC for Antigoddess last year and I loved it! It’s about time I own a physical copy.
Anyway, these might be the last books I bought this year. 2014 is ending in one and a half months and I’m not sure that with my current reading pace I will be able to devour them quickly. (Who knows, though?)
Other than books, I also bought some anime merchandises (again) and they arrived last month! I know I’m supposed to be saving money but I just can’t help myself! One of the artists I stalk finally opened a pre-order and I couldn’t afford to miss it πŸ˜›
My favorites of all!
Reading wise, I didn’t read anything this week. Or last week. Instead, I picked a manga called Shokugeki no Souma and it was very enjoyable! I even managed to read a few chapters a day after studying for my tests. I heard there’s gonna be an anime coming out next year and I’m so ready! The downside is that you end up wanting to eat impossibly delicious food you can never get.
BUT I did go to the cinema and I saw Big Hero 6. IT WAS AMAZING. LIKE AMAAAAZING. The best movie I’ve seen in the past few months. I can always count on animated movies to make me so emotional. I’m especially delighted to see that the main character in this movie is Japanese πŸ˜› AND THERE’S THIS CUTE HUGE FLUFFY ROBOT. Basically, a movie you don’t want to miss!!
Aaand the last big news: today I received my first ever review copy. Thank you so much Quercus Books for the opportunity! <3
(AKA the future)
  • Get some reading done — I’ll start with the thin ones!
  • Marathon some manga series. Probably Hirunaka no Ryuusei, Silver Spoon or Ansatsu Kyoushitsu. If you have some recommendations feel free to tell me!
  • Watch Fall anime I’m currently following.

Wow, I didn’t expect this post to be THAT long and image heavy. Anyway, what have you been up to this week? πŸ™‚ Btw, you really need to watchΒ  Big Hero 6! Don’t forget that ;D

Stacking the Shelves #11

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted at Tynga’s Reviews.

Hellooooo guys! πŸ˜€ There hasn’t been many posts on the blog this week but I’ve scheduled a few for next week! Also, I haven’t been in the mood to write discussion posts even though I have this growing list of topics — I wonder why. It used to be one of my favorite posts to write πŸ™

Anyway, not many books I got this week. Again, not gonna link them up to GR. Blame my lazy self lol. Here they are:

The Selection by Kiera Cass
Yeah. >w< I’ve been hearing so many negative reviews for it but you know what? Curiosity kills the cat, but hopefully this book won’t kill me (in a bad way). At least, I’m hoping it would be entertaining! πŸ˜€ Plus, blame the cover because I’m weak when it comes to gorgeous covers! *_*

For Review

Defy by Sara B. Larson (Thank you Scholastic and Netgalley! :D)
I’ve actually read this and unfortunately I thought it was frustrating πŸ™ My review will be up on the blog soon!
So that’s what I got this week! I’m sooooo excited since Christmas is VERY NEAR. Have you got any plans? Share em with me with the comments below or you can also link up your Christmas haul! πŸ˜‰

Hello guys! πŸ˜€ It’s been a while since I did my last book haul post! In that case, today’s STS will feature my book hauls in the past few months. Believe me, ever since my last STS I’ve been buying books more than I was supposed to. Aaaand due to my laziness I’m sorry that I won’t link up these titles to Goodreads… πŸ™

The Fall of Five by Pittacus Lore [my review]
Okay this series is truly going downhill. 80% of the story is just romance but thank goodness the ending makes up for it. I am actually quite curious about what will happen next so chances are I am going to buy the next book when it comes out next year.
Jet Black and the Ninja Wind by Leza Lowitz
I haven’t actually read this one despite buying it 3 months ago. I was quite intrigued by it since I love Japanese culture but now I keep putting it off :/
The House of Hades by Rick Riordan [my mini review]
THIS ONE WAS BEYOND AWESOME ASDGKSDGFGSHJKD. NICO LEO <3 Oh my god in this book almost every character develops well and I can’t wait to know how the series will end next year! <3 Btw guys, I think I will write a HoH discussion post once there’s more people who have read it πŸ˜€ what do you think??
Allegiant by Veronica Roth [my mini review]
Before starting Allegiant, I heard a lot of backlash from this book and some bloggers I know hated it so much I was actually afraid to read it. Luckily, I decided to go with an open mind and I ended up loving the ending. πŸ™‚ I guess I am the white sheep this time ><
Unbreakable by Kami GarciaΒ
I was really intrigued by Unbreakable because I’d never read anything centering on ghosts. Now that I’ve finished it, it’s actually pretty great! I really like the story line and some scenes I read at night sent me chills down the spine πŸ˜›
The Chaos of Stars
I am always all for mythology but the only one I’ve read is about Greek/Roman gods mythology so I decided to try out something different this time πŸ˜€ The Chaos of Stars wasn’t bad but I was expecting more mythology than contemporary. Well, at least it was fun to read πŸ˜€

For Review

Into the Dark: The Shadow Prince by Bree Despain
You know my obsession with mythology πŸ˜‰
White Space by Ilsa J. Bick
Me Since You by Laura Wiess
The Almost Girl by Amalie Howard
I’ve read this and luckily it was better than Howard’s other book called Waterfell — which was a disaster for me, by the way.

Gravediggers by Cindy M. Hogan
Witch Finder by Ruth Warburton

So that’s all I got in the past few months. Link me up to you STS, guys! I’d love to see yours πŸ™‚

Stacking the Shelves #9

Hey peeps! This week I haven’t been reading much thanks to my exams :/ I think I did a good job on every test, except physic. Seriously, my physic teacher has never explained all those materials before — she only explained the formula and gave one example and then we had this test the next week. It was super hard, officially that was the hardest test I ever did. Out of four numbers, I couldn’t finish one number. Haha, but all of my classmates protested and in the end, my teacher said she would discuss with the other physic teacher about the grading system, so she would only check three numbers cause most of my classmates didn’t finish either. Luckily though, my exams will be over next Tuesday!
On the bright side, I saw City of Bones! I’m not sure whether to write a movie review so tell me in the comments: do you want me to review TMI movie? πŸ™‚
For most of the month I didn’t buy any books since I was on book buying ban — broke it off last week teehee! Oh well, at least it lasted for over a month!
Oh and yes, this is new banner! I am updating my meme banners because my old ones have my old blog name… Anyways, here are what I got this month! πŸ˜€

(Bought this last week! :3 The book that broke my ban, haha!)

For Review

Hidden Wings by Cameo Renae
Wild Cards by Simon Elkeles
The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Thank you so much Indie Inked, Bloomsbury UK&ANZ, Disney Hyperion and Netgalley for sending me this galley <3
What did you get this month/week? πŸ™‚

Stacking the Shelves #8

Reboot by Amy Tintera
So I’m reading this now and it’s sooo boring I felt sleepy at first page. I’m hoping the second half is better but I doubt that would happen.
Geek Girl by Holy Smale
This sounds like an awesome and fun contemporary — I need a break from dystopia! See, I don’t even enjoy Reboot

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
This one has been on my TBR for AGES but I couldn’t find the English version anywhere in my town so I begged to my dad to let me order something online and to my relief he finally allowed me! <3 My copy just arrived a few days ago and I’m hoping I could get to it next week!

The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
The hype makes me really curious about this book — I’ve read both positive and negative reviews for this but I hope I will enjoy it. πŸ™‚ Although I’ve never been a fan of boring/slow beginning…
So that’s what I got this week guys! I’m really excited for all of them (well, except Reboot) πŸ˜€
